Close Reading is an analytic approach to reading that encourages students t engage the text through multiple reads, diving deeper each time. The strategy scaffolds student analysis o the text through a minimum of 3 reads; he 1st looking at key ideas and details, Depth of Knowledge 1(DOK 1), the 2nd examines craft and structure (DOK 2), and the 3rd digs deeper with integration of knowledge and ideas(DOK 3 and 4).
