Skill acquisition leads to higher levels of competency across content areas. In order to reach higher depths o knowledge, targeted strategies with gradual release of instruction need be applied to instruction. A year of action research was conducted to identify a handful of strategies that when applied with fidelity help increase student depth of knowledge and retention of the acquired skills.
